Well, about four of the Brighton juniors are turning up every week to practice with Brighton Ultimate under floodlights, so they'll be amazing in time for summer 2006. In other news, I received an email from Josh in Canterbury:
Hi,
I'm Josh, currently at 6th form at Simon Langton Boys School, Canterbury and
just stumbled apon your website. For the last 2 years now, we've been
running an ultimate club after school and now have 15 loyal members being
instructed by two great teachers [and admires of the game] from our school
Mr Holloway and Mr Butler.
But basically, we have never played a competetive game and are desperate to
but next week we should be playing our first game against the St. Edmonds
team [also from canterbury]. We all love the game to bits, and work to our
max at every practise session but would love to have any sort of games,
friendlys etc. and basically meet other people outside our school who love
to play the game!
Are there any teams at all, anywhere near to us in the south east? we're
basically only a junior team but we would hapily play anyone even if it
meant we were to loose dramatically! It's all about the spirit ;-D
wb.
Josh.
Isn't that awesome? I was able to tell him about Kent Touch This, and recommend he starts a local practice in town on Saturdays that everyone can attend. If any other junior teams in a similar position want to arrange a game against the Simon Langton or St. Edmonds teams, drop me an email and I'll pass you on.

Word on the street is that there's a junior team starting in Brighton. A handful of young players have been attending Brighton Ultimate practices, and have subsequently been promoting the sport at their local school - meaning on their first day back at school yesterday, what game was being played in the fields at lunchtime? None other than Ultimate Frisbee.
If they can get people who are interested to sign up to their mailing list and keep on playing then I'm sure this currently nameless team will grow in numbers and talent until they can defeat the University students who will start playing in October. By next summer they could be competing at Junior Nationals 2006, and from what I've seen they could really make an impact.
Have any juniors started playing where you are in the South-East? Let me know!
