The South East Uni Ladder League
27.07.06
SEULL II report: 2005/6
1. Mohawks (2657)
2. Brunel (2549)
3. Under Cover Lovers (2299)
Events: 15
Games played: 93
Most active team: Mohawks
The Mohawks started the season as they meant to go on, hosting a big event with 6 teams and about 80 players present, conceding only 4 points as they scored 33 against Surrey, Surrey 2 and Disc Doctors, and vaulting themselves from 11th up to the top of the table. Surrey Scorpions beat Disc Doctors 8-2 to move into 2nd place, and Mohawks 2 & 3 showed some talent, both beating Surrey's 2nd team.
Next came an event at Brunel University. Brunel had won both regionals and the Ladder League last year, so the Mohawks had been bigging up the matchup weeks in advance... the game between the two undefeated SEULL teams was played in terrible conditions and the scores stayed very close, despite a Callahan from the Mohawks it ended up 4-3 in Brunel's favor.
Strange Blue and Aye-Aye arranged one SEULL fixture this season, meeting in Cambridge with SB winning 13-9.
Brunel's second event in as many weeks saw Roehampton, UCL and Kent Touch This make appearances, with both UCL and Brunel winning all their matches to put them up to the top of the table with the Mohawks.
Events continued to roll by - Hyde Park saw UCL narrowly beat Thrown, with Disc Doctors & LSE racking up some points, Guildford witnessed another rampage by both Mohawks teams who saw off challenges from Surrey and Roehampton, another event in Brighton gave UCL a shot at table leaders Mohawks, which they took and beat them 9-8, but it wasn't enough to overtake the Mohawks on the table, who were notching up an impressive number of games played by attending all the events they could. After losing narrowly to Surrey a few weeks before, Roehampton stepped it up to beat Mohawks2 9-8, and went on to beat Thrown and Holloway at the next event at Brunel.
Brunel had a sense of urgency - they were winning all their games but the Mohawks had been consistently turning out good squads and were creating a gap at the top of the table... Brunel hosted another event and invited the Mohawks, along with 6 other teams, over to play. At the end of the day's play the two majorcontenders faced up to each other, and the Mohawks showed they were more than just eager as they powered to an 8-4 victory with just a couple of months of the league left. Disc Doctors capitalised on the aftermath, taking the opportunity to be the third team to beat the Mohawks, but it wasn't enough to put them in contention for the title.
Roehampton, who had been performing and improving throughout the season, hosted the next event, and to their surprise and elation ended up beating third-placers UCL 9-6. This was also to be the last place where Brunel and the Mohawks would meet - a tense match with nothing between the teams, ultimately the Mohawks came out on top 7-6 and Brunel knew they would have to pull something special off to stand a chance of retaining the SEULL title.
LSE hosted the next event in Regents Park - loads of the London teams turned out to get some more games under their belts, and despite beating UCL 9-8, Brunel crucially lost to the London School of Economics team 8-7. LSE had a great day, beating UCL as well as Brunel and launching themselves to 7th in the table.
The last event of SEULL 2006/2007 was hosted again at Brunel, and they knew they would have to do better than the Mohawks to stand a chance of winning the league... Roehampton first, Brunel beat 11-1 and Mohawks beat 14-1. Then Disc Doctors - Brunel beat 10-1 but Mohawks beat 12-0 - this was turning out to be the Mohawks' day. Both teams ended on a good note with tight wins over Sublime (who came along in the end to practice for regionals), but it was to be the Mohawks' finest hour as they assured their place as victors of a Ladder League season with unprecidented activity from a total of 23 teams.
At regionals, Brunel won when it mattered, beating the Mohawks in the group stages and finishing 2nd behind Strange Blue, whilst UCL and Mohawks played in an exciting Division 1 game-to-go, with UCL coming out victorious. At Nationals, the Mohawks beat Sublime in their semi final and ended up finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively in Division 2, with Strange Blue representing the South-East in the top 8 of Division 1 and UCL surprising all by beating Brunel in the knockout stages.

Mohawks win South-East Uni Ladder League 2005-2006
The Mohawks managed to hold onto their lead at the top of the table this weekend, seeing off challenges from Disc Doctors and Roehampton, and then beating Sublime in a thrilling sudden death finale. Hosts Brunel also had a successful day, but it wasn't enough to close the gap in points that the Mohawks had created by being so active over the last two terms, although they held onto second place.
So, that's it for SEULL '05-'06! It's been incredible to see how well everyone has adapted to the league, often getting two teams out to compete and giving beginners a chance to play some proper close outdoor ultimate before the Sunday of regionals. Everyone's been fantastic at organising events - without the event organisers there would be no games played, so a big hand for them. In total we had 23 teams competing in this season of the league, playing 93 games in just two terms.
I'll update later with some interesting season stats, but for now, congratulations to Mohawks for finishing 1st, Brunel and UCL for 2nd/3rd, and a special mention for Mohawks 2, finishing an unprecedented 4th in SEULL 2005/2006. Go and have a great time at , everybody!

Equilibrium climb the table; Brunel close the gap at the top
This weekend saw a SEULL event with 6 teams in Regent's Park, organised by Feng from LSE / Equilibrium. Attending were the teams UCL, Brunel, LSE, and Holloway 2. With UCL and Brunel both up near the top of the table and looking to close the gap with the Mohawks before the Brunel event next week, it was sure to be an exciting day of great interest to anyone with their eyes set on the SEULL 05/06 title.
It was both God and Equilibrium who were to cause surprises on the day, however. The winds raged throughout the day, causing many tight upwind/downwind games, in which Equilibrium reigned supreme, fending off challenges from UCL and Brunel by scoring their offence and beating both by a point a piece.
Here's a report from Feng:
Hi everyone,
thanks a lot to Holloway 2, Brunel and UCL who made the effort to come all the way to Central London for the matches today, especially to Holloway (who earned a parking ticket for their efforts....) After being kicked out of the LSE fields due to flooding, it was good old Regent's Park that was the venue for the matches, and I was glad to find that everyone found the place this time (unlike the time when we went to Brunel and spent more than an hour getting lost thanks to my awful navigational skills).
The skies were blue, there was no sign of rain, but oh my the wind. The forecast predicted winds of up to 20 miles an hour and they were right. The matches became a matter of making sure one does not fumble on the downwind points and trying so hard to score on the upwind points, and when hucks land 5 metres away from the wrong endzone one knows one is in serious trouble. Some points took more than 20 minutes to resolve (and running either a wall and rabbit or zone defence depending on the team it must have been living hell!), and the scores more than spoke for the challenging conditions for today.
Once again, thanks for coming down and hope to see you guys again at regionals!
Regards
Feng Qian
For a full list of results you know where to find them - I also recommend you check out the table before what will probably be the last SEULL event of the season next week - there's everything to play for as UCL, Brunel, and the current #1 spot holders the Mohawks vie for the title of South East Uni Ladder League Champions, 2005/2006, and the wonderful Rich White trophy.

Flurry of activity at the end of SEULL season 2
Two more Ladder League events have been organised in the last week, one by LSE for 25th Feb, and the other by Brunel for 5th March.
Regionals is on the 11/12th March, so it has been suggested that the Brunel Ladder League event is made to be a 'grand finale' as it were, with the winner being announced and the SEULL prizes for the season being presented at the end of the day. Previously it had been agreed to end the season on 24th March, and not continue into the third term, so I'm going to start a poll on the with three options: End SEULL 05/06 on 5th March, end on 24th March, or carry on into the third term and end on June 30th.
For now, though, get involved in these events in the run-up to regionals!
Hi everyone,
Equilibrium is pleased to announce that we have secured 3 pitches at our LSE Berrylands sports grounds for some full day ladder league action on Saturday 25th February! It is 2 weeks before SE Uni regionals and would be a good opportunity for all the teams to get some game practice before we all head up to Cambridge.
We are prepared to take up to 8 teams, and can definitely guarantee a minimum of 4 matches each if 8 teams do show up, so sign up quickly by emailing me back!
Here are the directions to the LSE sports grounds:
See you there,
LSE
And the Brunel event:
Another top notch ladder league event on Sunday 5th March, but this time its even better.
To make this the best ladder league event to date, Brunel are going to be having a party on Saturday night (after the clapham/fire skills day).
This will be to celebrate the success of this years ladder league and to generally get merry prior to regionals.
Any teams coming to the party will also get some floor space, hosted by some lovely brunel players (although I'm afraid there we will not be an auction like Mohawks).
Then on Sunday there will be a day of matches. But of course with a little lie in to nurse some painful heads.
If any of you are interested get in contact with me as soon as possible. So I can gauge the scale of things, accommodation mainly. If you dont fancy the party, you are still welcome to arrive on sunday to play.
This could be the last ladder league event before regionals so make sure you're involved.
Hope to hear from you soon

Police displace frisbee addicts at South East "Ladder League" gathering
Roehampton hosted the most controversial Ladder League event so far, provoking the police to get involved in SEULL - something we had all known was going to happen sooner or later.
"You can't play here", the tall officer announced assertively, after parking his vehicle and sauntering over to the pitch where a bitter battle between giants Roehampton 2 and Mohawks 2 had just been fought out. "These pitches," he says, gesturing towards the fields, "They are for rugby only."
After a brief gunfight, gangs - I mean - teams from Mohawks, Holloway, UCL and Roehampton retreated to the other side of the oh-so-precious rugby fields to continue their games. Brunel, who we assume had been hiding in the woods until the police left the scene, arrived shortly, and joined in the action. Plenty of exciting games were played, including Roehampton getting a victory over UCL, ladder league leaders Mohawks beating regional champions Brunel, Holloway 2 defeating Roehampton, and Roehampton 2 making their first ever SEULL appearances.
The day climaxed with a mega-call of Evolution, involving all 8 teams, whittled down to three losers. As well as the traditional 3 pint challenges in the much-further-away-than-five-minutes-walk pub afterwards, a new tradition of Flipcup was started. You can't flip the cup!
There's been some shuffling near the top of the table - Disc Doctors have dropped down to 6th due to some inactivity, or rather, the crazy activity of the other clubs, Brunel have moved up to 2nd, and Roehampton's win over UCL has helped them overtake Mohawks 2 for 4th place.
26.01.06
An update & change to the table since the last event - Holloway have told me that their team at the weekend was actually their second team on the day (their three top players decided not to play), which is more representative of the performance they gave and so doesn't make the table as screwed up as it was before!
Remember, however, that it's good etiquette to let the opposing team know whether you're a first or second team before you play them.
So now, the table positions have mixed around - Brunel are just beating Disc Doctors to third place, UCL retain their second place, and the Mohawks' lead is lessened somewhat to within striking distance.
Check out the and to see for yourself where things stand.
Next event is in Roehampton on 8th February!
23.01.06
Wow, what a day. The Ladder League event at Brunel was absolutely fantastic - everyone got to play plenty of games before it got dark, there were three games going on all the time with two teams having a break (yep, 8 teams attended the event), enough to tire out everybody - especially the two iron man Mohawks teams - and give them all a taste of the upcoming gruelling two-day regionals tournament (11th/12th March, Cambridge).
Brunel, Mohawks 1 & 2, Roehampton, Disc Doctors, Thrown, Holloway Hammers and LSE were all there (more than half the teams in the South East?) showing their stuff, and impressive moments were had by all.
A mini report by one of the Brunel freshers will be sent to me & uploaded soon, so I'll keep this update more technical...
There was a three way tie at this event, between Mohawks, Brunel and Disc Doctors. This did favours for Disc Doctors and unfortunately didn't benefit Brunel, who also missed out on beating a weakened Holloway Hammers team, so Brunel ended up dropping a place on the table, down to 4th, whilst Disc Doctors have soared up from 8th to 2nd with three massive wins after losing to Brunel - 11-0 against Hammers, 11-2 against LSE, and then a 7-4 victory against table leaders Mohawks gave them enough points to boost them so high. Roehampton and Thrown stepped up their game against Brunel, taking some points but losing 8-2 and 8-4 to the regional champions, despite Brunel beating Disc Doctors 6-2 in the first game. If they had beaten Disc Doctors after their points blitz then they would definitely be higher in the table, so despite hosting an awesome event and winning against all but the table leaders, it was an unlucky day for Brunel when it came to ranking points. Another Brunel event is in the pipeline I hear, and this time they won't be taking any prisoners...
Roehampton are showing plenty of promise, improving each time they make an appearance, and this is reflected by their current holding of 6th place. Any scores you can get on them are sure to boost your team's position, so don't miss out on visiting their windy ground on Wednesday 8th Feb for some matches.
Mohawks 2 (or MoDarks, as they prefer to be called) had a storming day, coming out strong at the start with a victory against Roehampton, who had beaten them 9-8 last time they met, and finishing the day with a thrilling sudden death win against Thrown - staying a tantalising 9 points ahead of Roehampton on the table.
Thrown had a 5-3 victory against Holloway, and had it been any closer then they would have missed their opportunity to overtake them in the table - now they lead Holloway by a mere 2 points, at 7th in the table. Equilibrium are right on their heels, just 25 points behind, so every game counts for these three teams...
Okay that's enough detailed analysis for now - the figures speak for themselves on the and pages.

An exciting announcement from Jim:
With the success of Ladder League we've decided that it's about time Roehampton hosted a ladder league event of our very own!
It seems that Brighton and Brunel are on to a good thing with their weekend fixtures but unfortunately our university decided the weekends aren't worth the bother and so everything except the library closes and this means the bars too, so we've decided to return to the wednesday fixture. The date we're proposing is Wednesday the 8th of February.
Hopefully they'll still be time for lots of matches and then off to the bar.
I know it's not a huge amount of notice but hopefully we'll still get lots of interest. Let us know if you're up for it and we can see how many teams are coming and how many games everyone can get in.
How awesome is that - a team in their first proper year, hosting an event open to other student teams in their region! Let them know you're interested and go pay them a visit on the 8th Feb...
16.01.06
This weekend there was an event in Brighton, with UCL and Roehampton joining the two Mohawks teams. There was enough time for every team to play every other team, in hour-long games. Things started off very close, as Roehampton beat Mohawks 2 9-8, getting their second win of the season. UCL went three points down to the Mohawks, but fought back valliantly with some solid zone and a series of scores including a callahan, eventually bringing it to sudden death, where their zone in the wind caused a number of crucial Mohawk turnovers and gave them a 9-8 victory.
Next up, UCL faced Roehampton, and were looking to get as many points as possible as the top of the table was in sight after beating the first place Mohawks. They comfortably took it 12-1.
Mohawks 2 suffered a similar fate against UCL, who were on fire, climaxing with a 15 yard World's Greatest play on a dying disc by Jack Laloe... Mohawks 2 - despite taking 6 points from Mohawks 1 - had no answer to UCL's acrobatics and were beaten to zero, whilst Roehampton got 2 against Mohawks' 12.
After a slow start, UCL are becoming the team to look out for. They are now in second place, a mere 26 points behind the Mohawks, who're still holding onto the top spot for now. Perhaps next week's games at Brunel will shuffle the top of the table around even more, as Brunel aren't in a bad position themselves...
12.01.06
Yesterday saw the second half of UCL vs LSE on Regent's park. The match was postponed in December due to failing light, with a tantalising 3-2 score to UCL and 23 minutes left on the clock. After a whole Christmas full of anticipation, the teams lined up again to finish the battle. LSE's Feng Qian reports...
Have to say that we went into the match really apprehensive after seeing their squad was almost three times the size of ours... the match was really exciting with some excellent handling by UCL dealing with the zone defence put up by our side (I am sure the people in our cup are really tired now!), and what a great huck leading to that score by UCL! Ultimately it was LSE scoring twice on the upwind side that secured a much needed victory for LSE, though it was so close that it could have gone either way.
Play was resumed with 23 minutes left today with the score at 3-2 in UCL's favour, and the final score was 6-5 to LSE.
Have a great week and see you around,
Feng Qian
Great stuff, the table's updated now with LSE's first win of the season!
Next on the SEULL calendar is the Mohawks' event in Preston Park, Brighton, this Saturday. Roehampton and UCL are coming down to play Mohawks 1 & 2, who are looking to increase their lead at the top of the table! Brunel will have something to say about that next Sunday, as the Mohawks amongst others go up to play them in London...

Feng Qian from LSE has written a report on the games held yesterday in London between LSE, UCL and Holloway Hammers.
Hi everyone,
thanks for the great games today! The games kicked off at 1435 with Holloway and UCL taking on each other in an exciting match. UCL threw a zone defence which surprised Holloway quite a bit with the mild wind conditions, but Holloway recovered sufficiently to score a few times in succession, taking the match 4-1.
Next up was the Holloway-LSE match, with UCL free to do some drills in the meantime. The match was extremely close, with LSE taking the lead several times, only for Holloway to equalise. With less than three minutes to spare, it was 3-3, and Holloway then took two quick points to win 5-3.
Finally was the LSE-UCL match, which saw fellow Regent's Park mates take on each other in an exciting match, which was unfortunately thwarted by the fading light - it was so exciting that the people on the pitch wanted to play regardless! Play stopped at 17 minutes with the score being 3-2 to UCL. Plans are to complete the match on the first Wednesday of term.
Alright everyone, thanks to UCL and Holloway for travelling down to Berrylands (reaching earlier than the hosts even!), and hope to see you soon for more ladder league action!
Have a blessed Christmas,
Feng Qian
Mohawks 1 & 2 also played Roehampton in Brighton, winning 11-4 and 6-3 respectively. These games in London and Brighton have shuffled the table around somewhat before the end of the term - Holloway have moved up to third (just above UCL) with less games played than anyone else in the top 8, Mohawks' lead extends as their games played reaches double figures, Mohawks 2 are scything up the table with persistance, nipping at Surrey's toes for 5th place now, and Roehampton put a gap between themselves and Strange Blue / Aye-Aye to assert themselves in the top 8.
Next fixture: 11th Jan, UCL vs LSE 2nd half.
Next event: Saturday 14th January, Brighton.
01.12.05
There are plenty of fixtures for the end of this term and the beginning of next - so if you want your team to play some more games then don't delay and email the people on the !

The 7th December matches will decide the positions in the table for the end of the first half of the season - will Brunel make an appearance at LSE's event, or are the Mohawks going to be running away with it? What can UCL pull out of the bag from 3rd place?
21.11.05
Well, there's been an unprecedented amount of activity over the last month, just check out the results & table to see all the outcomes of battles which have been taking place across the south east.
Here's a word from Matt about an event Kings threw at the weekend:
UCL’s Under Cover Lovers, Imperial’s Disc Doctors and King’s Thrown entered two teams each, plus one Equilibrium team from LSE. A bit past noon, all teams where ready to go, three pitches were set up, the weather was crispy cold, windless and sunny... - What more can you ask for?
The idea was to have all the first teams play each other and have all the second teams play each other, giving beginners the opportunity to compete against similar-level teams from other unis. Unfortunately, with seven teams entered, the second teams had an hour break each in the cold, but they managed very well, keeping busy with drills or 1st team support.
The first games saw a thrilling 7:6 sudden death win for UCL2 against dD2 and another closely fought match between Thrown1 and LSE which the King’s squad managed to win 8:6. Also, dD1 suffered an unexpected 3:11 loss to UCL1, who entered the event with a very strong team.
The second set of games proved again how strong a team UCL are. Both their 1st and 2nd teams beat LSE (11:1) and Thrown2 (11:1), respectively. The third pitch saw the ultimate classic between dD1 and Thrown1. Unlike at the Brighton SEIR, dD1 dominated this meet and finished with a deserved 10:3 win. Kings were only left to conclude that "Imperial’s outdoors is a LOT better than their indoors!"
The two dD squads showed strength in the final games, with dD1 beating LSE 11:1 and dD2 scoring 10:2 against Thrown2. Thrown1 finished with a very close game against strong UCL, coming back from a hopeless 4:10 to an exciting 9:10 thanks to applying an effective clam D and a great focus on their O.
Understandably, the first thought after games and calls was to get a shower and go somewhere warm (home), so, apart from dD and some LSE players who came to the pub, I didn’t get a chance to say THANKS A TON to everyone for coming down!!! I enjoyed it thoroughly and hope to see you all at future SEULL fixtures.
Keep it flying and take care,
BPM
Sounds like it was a great day's play! Certainly has got me thinking about the upcoming outdoor regionals - who will dominate? Can Disc Doctors' outdoor team upset a few of the clubs that qualified for indoor nationals? Will all this practice in London strike fear into Strange Blue & Aye-Aye's hearts? What have UCL got up their sleeves? Which team has the stamina to take home the when the season ends in late March?
21.10.05
The video of Mohawks' Ladder League event on 19/10/2005 is !
After being previewed on a big screen at the indoor regionals party, anticipation for the release of has been high. Now, in the comfort of your own home, you can watch the caught point block over and over, yell Yeah Rich White along with the sideline, dance with Dancing Felix, laugh at Dan wondering where'd everybody go, and cry as Nick drops a beautifully placed huck.
On another note, loads of Ladder League games have been played in Brunel, so check out the results page to see how the teams faired against each other, and mosey on down to the table to decide who you're best placed to play next...

Word from Matt Gorham, Brunel, on an upcoming Ladder League event:
I'm hoping that the first league event went well in Brighton. To
follow it and jump on the bandwagon Brunel Ultimate are offering a
fixture:
Where? Brunel University campus West London
When? 1.30pm 02/11/2005
Who? At the moment Brunel 1&2
After the games we're more than happy to head off to the bar on

We will only be able to fit 3 pitches in max so spaces may be
limited. Contact Shimmy for more details.
Cheers
Matt
Brunel Ultimate.
I know the Mohawks, Disc Doctors and Surrey Scorpions are eager to play last year's champions - maybe we'll see the first SEULL appearance from Roehampton University also... And I can't imagine Kings would miss out on such an opportunity either.

The first SEULL 05/06 event hosted by the was a huge success - at 2pm on Wednesday there were about 80 people gathered on the Sussex University campus, getting accustomed to throwing discs in the wind. Games kicked off at 2.20pm, between three Mohawks teams, one Disc Doctors, and Surrey Scorpions 1 & 2. Everyone got to play three games, meaning the positions on the have been shuffled around considerably - with Surrey and Mohawks now occupying the top spots.

After the games, the teams headed to Falmer bar where the three pint challenge relay race commenced. Mac & Nick from the Mohawks were passing their straws to Sarah Archer (Vomit Girl) and Louise Davey (Baloo/Dave) from Surrey, and Bob & Greg from Mohawks were passing to George & John from Imperial. After an impressive 17.7s by Mac & Nick gave them a few seconds head start, Sarah and Louise were fighting against George & John for victory. It was neck and neck the whole way, and when it came to the last few seconds Imperial just pipped the Surrey girls to the post, each of them finishing in ~40sec. Has a new Ladder League tradition been started?

Tequila from the is the first to announce a SEULL fixture for the new season! Any clubs wanting to kick off their Ladder League campaign on the third week of term - just enough time for the freshers to settle in and get prepared for some games - why not send a couple of teams down to Brighton for Wednesday 19th October? Already the 10th & 11th seeds will be there...
In other news, the prize fund is coming along nicely, with 3 t-shirts and 6 discs to be awarded in March!

Iniziato!
SEULL II is officially open for business - the are up, the players are filtering back to their university grounds, and shouts of "heads!" are starting to echo around the campuses. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to , here's what's going to be different this time around:
-
5/2 man/woman split encouraged - discuss it with your opponents, but wherever possible, I want to see two women on your line
- One non-student 'guest' is allowed to play for each team, providing both captains agree before the match
- The season ends on 24th March 2006. For most universities this is at the end of the second term
This year there will also be prizes for the top three finishers & spirit winners. These prizes depend on you, the people, donating towards the Prize Fund - can your club spare a disc or two? Got some t-shirts left over from last year? .
Felix's little-informed rundown and buildup for 2005-2006:
Aye-Aye (5th): having lost a few graduates, some of the core from a few years ago remain, including Treble... the guys and girls from Norwich have played in all the Open Tour events over the summer, consistently finishing between 8th and 12th in the B Tour - this extra practice is sure to put them in good stead for a strong start of the season. I'd say they'll get into the top 4.
Brunel (1st): they've lost Malcolm, I think they've still got JJ... their performance depends on the notoriously fast-learning Brunel freshers this year. Those from last year will be valuable driving forces in the first team, and the pressure to hold onto their title will no doubt inspire some extra training to ensure a strong start. I think it'll be close at the top but Brunel will be pipped to the post.
Disc Doctors (3rd): possibly out of practice so therefore a slow start to the season is on the cards, I think Stylish and Manny will be influential on the team this year. Will it be enough to beat Aye-Aye to make it into the top 4? It could all come down to whether they can recruit some fresher ladies for once.
Equilibrium (8th): I've no idea whether they're losing any players, but their activity last year has provided them with valuable experience which could do them a lot of favours this year. If they are as active as last season then they could get 6th.
Holloway Hammers (4th): once again, no idea what's going on with this club this year. I think their female element will do them well in the league though, plus their proximity to London teams means they can be more active. Even with all this considered I can see them dropping a couple of places.
Kent Touch This (16th): will the new Kent University (Canterbury) team make an appearance this year?
Mohawks (11th): with a large base of returning players who have been practicing with Brighton over the summer, the Mohawks could easily upset a few teams this season. I think that with enough activity they'll be able to make it into the top 5.
Reading Dragons (12th): with the Reading geo-team Discuits nearby, hopefully the Dragons will knock it up another notch this year and come out blazing. Top 8 finish is definitely possible.
Strange Blue (2nd): never to be underestimated, Strange Blue have been doing well in the B tour throughout the summer, and no doubt will have a strong student team this season. They've the potential to win it.
Sublime (7th): will they show up this year? Who knows. Does anyone care? I predict they'll drop out of the top 10.
Surrey Scorpions (6th): a few have been playing for the Lucky Huckers over the summer, and with the ideas of Dan Sidders on their side combined with the potent talent of Special, they are bound to progress in leaps and bounds, possibly into the top 5. Keep an eye on for their second team too...
Thrown (10th): a growing and improving club, Kings College will be able to win more games than people think due to a strong female contingent in Jen and Ally Xiang. Ham and Sam are likely to work their usual magic with this team to get them up to 8th place at least.
Under Cover Lovers (9th): not sure how many players they are keeping or losing, but Matt and Kieron are likely to keep the ball rolling... can they recruit any ladies though?
The Victims (16th) & Greenwich (17th): hopefully we'll see some action from these teams this season - I'm sure they can play some home games if anyone can visit them...
Whatever happens this season, it's sure to be interesting. Can Brunel hold onto the title? Is it Strange Blue's year? Or will Aye-Aye, the Mohawks or Surrey Scorpions upset things at the top?

25.08.05
And so begins the second season of the South-East University Ladder League. Last season was a success, with 18 games played and 256 points scored, the eventual top three finishers were Brunel, Strange Blue (Cambridge), and Disc Doctors (Imperial). Consequently, these teams are now seeded at the top of the new , and their second teams promoted accordingly. Kudos to Aye-Aye, SB and dD for getting their second teams playing last season, meaning they've taken Essex, Greenwich and Caterbury's places in the top half of the table - hopefully we'll see some action from these new teams this season.
There are a few possible rule changes for the new season in the pipeline, results from a vote on the will be available soon, and adjustments to the league made accordingly.
Have a great season everyone,
Felix
