Uriel win South West Ladder League 2005/6

1. Uriel (1656)
2. BLT (1567)
3. Picnic (1454)

Events: 2
Games played: 8
Most active team: Uriel

The first event was a one-day Uni tournament in Glastonbury, already planned before the Ladder League was announced, in which it was decided the results would count towards SWULL. Seven games were played between 5 attending teams, and Uriel immediately appeared to be the team to look out for as they defeated Picnic and BLT with relative ease, catapulting themselves to the top of the table. BLT (Bath) won 10-9 against Picnic and 9-2 against No Frills, who had a disappointing day, beating only BLT2 11-6.
Uriel's lead showed no signs of stopping as they hosted the second event, in the end Mythago were the only attending team and managed to pick up enough points to put them ahead of No Frills on the table, despite losing 13-7 to Uriel who became SWULL champions 2005/6.

At Regionals, Uriel managed to just hold on to the Division 2 finish behind BLT, with No Frills, Picnic and Mythago all qualifying for Division 1 and going on to finish 3rd, 6th and 2nd respectively.

Congratulations to all South West teams on the brilliant performances at nationals and not the nationals.  It all goes to show how strong a region this is and hopefully all teams will push forward again next year and increase the south west's dominance even more.

Uriel continue to push into the lead with a 13-7 victory over Mythago.

Results from Glastonbury are now in and the table has been updated with Uriel taking first spot but BLT are very close behind.

Remember the best way to get a high placing is too play lots of matches.  It doesn't matter whether you win or loose because you still gain ranking points.

Chris "Milky" Penfold has announced a South West Uni outdoor friendly & Ladder League event, to be held on 11th February in Glastonbury. It's basically going to be a mini tournament between university teams mainly from the South West (although other university teams from other regions are welcome also), and unless agreed otherwise, the results of the games will also count towards the South West Uni Ladder League table.
Here's the announcement:
Saturday 11th February - 1-day student outdoor tournament

Venue - Tor Leisure, Glastonbury (same venue as the September tournament)
Cost - £35 per team
Prizes for the finalist + spirit

Although this event is billed as a friendly tournament, at the discretion of the teams playing, games will be eligible for the Uni Ladder League (for games between teams from the same region).

Facilities - changing rooms, hot showers, bar + club house

Accommodation - if teams would like accommodation on the Friday and/or Saturday night this may be available at the club house for a minimal fee. Please contact me for further information (there isn't loads of space but enough for a couple of teams).

Women - if you haven't gone to mixed indoors why not come to Glasto for a women's hat tourny? If you are interested please email me back and we will run it, provided there are enough players!

Please make cheques payable to 'C Penfold' (on the reverse please include team name and contact email address) and send them to:

86, Greville Road
Bristol
BS3 1LJ

Closing date: Friday 3rd Feb

Directions, timings etc will be posted nearer the time

Thanks

Milky and Lucy
BPF

PS if teams are intending to use results for the ladder league please make sure you have checked the rules at http://www.seultimate.org/ull/

PPS apologies for the venue and day change!!
Looks like it'll be a well run and well attended event, so make sure you don't miss out on this pre-regionals uni outdoor action, and email Milky today!
Remember, you can always organise Ladder League games before and after this event to give your club the edge...

Today the South West Uni Ladder League was started, with a short season commencing for Spring & Summer terms 2006, before a full ladder league season in the academic year 06/07. From experience, activity tends to drop off in the summer term as students have exams, so get as many games in for the spring term as you can. There are 10-12 weeks this term, so get planning now as to which weeks you're going to be hosting teams & which weeks you'll be visiting teams.
Results from South West Outdoor Regionals, March 2005, used for seeding purposes:

1. Mythago 1
2. Skunks 1
3. BLT 1
4. No Frills 1
5. Uriel 1
6. Skunks 2
7. Disco
8. No Frills 2 (spirit)
9. Mythago 2
10. BLT 2
11. Uriel 2
Picnic are another team in the South West, and although they didn't attend last year's Outdoor Regionals, they won Indoor Regionals in November 2005 and came 7th at Nationals. There are rumours of a Swansea based team starting up too - if anyone has any info on this then please get in touch.
If you have any questions or notice anything dodgy or inaccurate on this website don't hesitate to get in touch with Mike, or your regional coordinator Beavan.
Email Mike your contact details and team info for the teams page, check out the table to see where you're seeded, look at the teams page to see which teams practice near you, and then email them to make some fixtures!

Above all, enjoy, and keep playing ultimate,

Felix
